Explanation: Swimming

Walt: explain what is done before swimming.

In Glen Innes School, children bring their togs and towels everyday for their swimming lessons because they have a swimming pool.

First, the children get their togs and goggles to swim in, because wearing togs instead of clothes is really easy to swim in and clothes are really hard for children to swim. It will be too heavy.

Next, the children go into the changing room, so they can change into their togs because you need to have the right gear on to swim.

After that, the children head to the swimming pool but before they get into the pool they need to have a shower so the chlorine won’t burn their skin.

Then, the children can hop into the pool but they have to enter the pool by the ladder. Only so they will know if it is deep or not.

Finally, they get to swim in the pool because swimming is one of the best sport or because they want to swim when its a hot day.

Yummy treats

Halloween is a little scary but feeling yummy when I get treats.
Halloween is really interesting to see many different costumes that childrens makes.  Halloween is also called All saints’ Eve or All Hallows’ Eve.
When I first known halloween, I thought it was a celebration to have fun with your family.  But it was a fun and scary halloween and when you tricky treat.
I have to say I love halloween for some reason maybe because I love lollies and treats.

The last time I when tricky treat was with Sina, Agnes and Anau my sister and I was a Vampire.  We went around eastview and up apriana.  
Its was yummy because we get to have delicious and tasty treats.  
For myself and I, I feel that Halloween isn’t that scary but it was yum. Its funny because I don’t see that much scary costumes.

This year I want to be scared and get frighten of peoples costumes.  I want to feel welcome to Halloween and become frighten.

I got a sticker.

Smelly boy

Walt: write a story with a theme” always take care of your skin”

There was a big boy called Willy Wonka and he’s pretty ugly and smelly.  While, he never had a shower even though he’s mum told him.  Willy Wonkas mum was too upset when she told him how many times to go for a shower.  So she never bother to.   

Willy never wanted to hope into the shower and he always touches germs, diseases and he does feel itchy, like all the time.  He look like the monster that just came from the jungle but While few days ago, he was very sick, unhealthy and ugly.  So he ran from GI centre worst.  He always gets hurt and thinks that he got the power to heal problems, while No!.  Everyone never wanted to be his friend but he never cares.  He never wanted to be clean and smell nice and fresh but all he was, was the opposite.

to home, and he screamed” Mum Mum! “.  While mum wasn’t home, so he was so badly sick.  So in 20 seconds Willy ran fast to the hospital like Usain bolt.  He got there and screamed” Help Help “. So a nurse came to help and her name was Miss Clear.  Miss clear asked” what happen “ and Willy Wonka said” I’m badly sick, please help me I don’t want to die“ and Miss Clear said” Yes!, I’ll help you and No! you won’t die, you came at the right time so well done and you do look really bad and smelly”.

So Miss Clear gave him water then told him to go to sleep, then gave him a infections to make him better. While she notices that he really smells so bad, so he really need to go for a good shower.  So as soon Willy woke up his mum was holding his hand so tightly and Mum told him if you don’t go shower, you know you’ll get even worst.  So Mum took him home and took his medicine and then Mum went to get some food.  Willy went to hoop in the shower and got some soap and then turn on the shower.  He wiped his body as clean as its done then got his towel and dry his body for 15 minutes then put some clothes on.  While when he was done he looked smart and cool and smells better than before.  So when mum came back she was very spires for him and happily after they ate together as a mum and son.

Tony Williams New Zealand Author

Walt: look for information about Tony Williams NZ Author.

Tony Williams is one of the famous author in New Zealand. He creates stories and goes all around New Zealand visiting schools. Tony Williams makes different types of stories like his first book was about an alien that had to go to school after he got thrown out of galaxy. That book was called Fizz the Wildest Boy in Universe. I have never read any of Tony’s books but I would like to know more all about his journals. While today his coming to tell us all about him and all his books.  I think he's a really interesting and an inspired author.  Tony is also makes stories about sport and I love sport and before he became an author he was a journalist.  So used to work as in a nz paper and that’s brillants

Sumatran Tiger

Walt: write a report / narrative

On August 28, a Sumatran tiger had cancer which was really sad for all the people who took care of Cantik. Cantik came from Burger’s Zoo from the Netherlands. Wellington’s Zoo staff was really depressed when Cantik passed away.   

I really felt the same for Cantik. In the wild, tigers can only live for 10 years. When tigers are in the zoo they can live for over 20 years because the zookeepers take care of them.  Cantik means “beautiful” in Indonesian language. Tigers are the biggest cats in the world. Sumatran tigers are the tiniest species of all tigers.  

The Whale child.

Walt: analyze the character in a story.

I chose Great-grandma because she was the main character and she was telling the story to hannah.  She was sharing her story with Hannah.  Great-grandma was one of them in the story.  She was the one that held her breath when her ship was sinking.  While it was about a whale child.  The whale child was with Great-grandma in the ship but no she was filled out of the ship.  So those people who came with her was turn into seleten.  While she was in the sea until 4 years.  Great-grandma went back to fetch her.  So happily after they got back where they belong.

Prevention is better than cure

Walt: respond to the presentation given by the Public Health Dept.

On  6 August, Dr Alison Leversha came to Glen Innes School.  She is  a doctor from Starship Hospital. She told us to tell our parents when we had a sore throat.

Afterwards, Awen Guttenbeil told us about his experience with rheumatic fever. When he was 9 years old he had rheumatic fever. He had a sore throat but did not want to tell his parents. So the next day, he couldn’t move and couldn’t talk.  Its because when you have a sore throat will later on if not treated, will become Rheumatic Fever. Next mum was in a hurry to take Awen to the doctor.

Sione Lousi was the one who had a problem with his throat so the nurse told him to say ahhh, while Sione didn’t know how to say that. Steve Rapeta and Ben Henry helped him so everyone said” ahhh “, Sione Lewis said” ahh “.  

When you wash your hands, first you get a soap and sing a song like happy birthday.  Then you turn on the tap and wash hands. When you're finished you clean your hands with a towel.  

Basketball Poem

Dribble, dribble, dribble

dribble, dribble, dribble

I catch and shoot

I smile and look

I see the ball, into the hoop

I scream and shout

My crowd is here

throwing roses until too the end

Dribble, dribble, dribble

I jump and stop

I look and stare

I bounce and past

I run as fast

stop and jump

as high as a mountain

I slam dunk

And I hear my crowd

there loud and crazy

Stop jump

Protect, pivot

I bouch and swish

And block with my protective

I sang along

but they talk the ball

                                                             

The referee blows

Blows the whistle

There's no pulling

We clapped and jump

I bounced and pivot

passed the ball to my mate

He runs, he bounced

to the end he got a free throw

Into the hoop the time was over

we won and stream

we jumped and smile

Tut

Walt: write the story of Tutankhamun (Tut).

Tut was the king of Ancient Egypt.  He ruled Egypt from 1333 BC - 1324 BC.  Tutankhamun was 8 or 9 years old when he became a king.  He died when he was 18 years old.  Kira gave birth to Tut.   Tut married Ankhesenpaaten.  Akhenaten is Tut father, so when Akhenaten died Tut took over him.

There are 2 beliefs about how  Tut died.  It is believed that Tut got murdered or had an infection from a fracture.    No one knows exactly how Tut died.

Tut was of slight build that is why his tomb was so small.  The archaeologists and scientists found great gold and a solid gold mask in Tut’s tomb.
